TOKYO, Japan — The 2025 Japan Open (Super 750), which concluded on July 20, saw Team Yonex athletes deliver a dominant performance, capturing titles in all five disciplines.
Among the standout performers was An Se Young (KOR), who claimed her second Japan Open crown with a commanding win over world No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi (CHN) in the women’s singles final. The victory marked her sixth title of the season and added further momentum heading into next month’s World Championships, where she will aim to defend her title.
In men’s doubles, Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae (KOR) clinched their first Japan Open title. Formed earlier this year, the pair has now reached the finals in seven of the eight World Tour events they’ve entered—extending a remarkable streak with another strong showing in Tokyo.
China also showcased its depth and consistency. Shi Yu Qi (CHN) secured his first Japan Open title in men’s singles. In women’s doubles, reigning champions Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning (CHN) defended their title, as did Wei Ya Xin and Jiang Zhen Bang (CHN) in mixed doubles.
Japan’s top women’s doubles pair Chiharu Shida and Nami Matsuyama (JPN), who have announced they will part ways after the upcoming World Championships, made their final domestic appearance a memorable one by reaching the semifinals for the first time at the Japan Open.
Meanwhile, Akane Yamaguchi (JPN), aiming for a record fifth Japan Open title, fell short in the semifinals. Despite the loss, she expressed her gratitude to the supportive crowd, reflecting, “I was able to enjoy playing thanks to the amazing cheers.”
As the official supplier of shuttlecocks, court mats, and stringing services at the event, Yonex remains committed to supporting athletes and helping them perform at their very best on the world stage.
