Ben Shelton (USA) will bring power and confidence to the US Open, where he will be attempting to make tennis history by becoming the first American man to win a Grand Slam singles title in more than 20 years.
Shelton’s first ATP Masters 1000 title in Toronto this month showed that the 22-year-old, who is the highest ranked Yonex player in the men’s draw, is capable of producing his best tennis when the stakes are high. Other contenders for the men’s title include Casper Ruud (NOR), a former US Open finalist and a head-to-toe Yonex ambassador, who will be wearing the new Yonex apparel line and the Eclipsion 5 shoes, along with Frances Tiafoe (USA), who plays with a signature PERCEPT racquet and has twice reached the semi-finals on the hard courts of New York City.
Hopes are high for Team Yonex at the US Open. The Yonex athletes in the women’s singles draw include Jessica Pegula (USA), who appeared in her first Grand Slam final at last year’s US Open, and who is the highest ranked Yonex player at this summer’s tournament. Also keep an eye on head-to-toe Yonex ambassador and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina (KAZ) and on Madison Keys (USA), who won her first major singles title at this year’s Australian Open after switching to Yonex racquets.
