A Decade of The Legends’ Vision: Celebrating Growth and Inspiration at YONEX All England 2025

At the YONEX All England 2025, The Legends’ Vision marked a decade of growth, inspiration, and impact on the global badminton community. Launched at the YONEX All England in 2015, the initiative has evolved into a worldwide movement—empowering players, engaging communities, and advancing the sport’s future.

A Legacy Match to Inspire Future Champions

As part of the anniversary celebrations, a Legacy Match brought together junior teams from England and Chinese Taipei, supported by Lin Dan (CHN), Lee Yong Dae (KOR), Peter Gade (DEN), and Carolina Marin (ESP).

This match was part of the Legacy Initiative, established during The Legends’ Vision events in 2020, reinforcing the program’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent. With Yonex’s continued support, the Legends guided young players on and off the court—walking out with their respective teams, mentoring juniors, and sharing their expertise to inspire the next generation.

The Legends Reflect on 10 Years of Impact

At a special press event, the Legends shared their thoughts on The Legends’ Vision’s journey, key achievements, and its path forward:

• Lin Dan (CHN) reflected on the initiative’s roots in China, its evolution from an exhibition event into a global platform for growth, and its impact on 97,000+ participants in Legacy Tournaments.
• Peter Gade (DEN) emphasized how the initiative has moved from inspiration to action—using research to identify gaps and implement structured development programs. He highlighted Canada’s Inter-Club Training Program as an example, fostering collaboration and strengthening high-performance environments for junior players.
• Lee Yong Dae (KOR) discussed the evolution of doubles badminton, the importance of expert coaching and mentoring, and how The Legends’ Vision is raising global standards through targeted programs.
• Carolina Marin (ESP) focused on creating opportunities for players from non-traditional badminton nations, particularly young female athletes, and encouraging them to believe in global success.

Key Achievements Over the Past Decade

• 97,000+ participants in Legacy Tournaments in China, continuing to create opportunities for young players.
• 27+ global events, including 100+ clinics, workshops, and grassroots initiatives supporting badminton at all levels.
• Canada’s Inter-Club Training Program, fostering collaboration between clubs to strengthen junior development.
• A Racquet’s Second Life—a sustainability program repurposing donated racquets for disadvantaged communities, ensuring badminton remains accessible to all.

The Road Ahead: Expanding the Vision

The Legends’ Vision remains committed to broadening its reach, introducing new initiatives to strengthen badminton’s future in key regions. Looking ahead, the initiative will:

• Return to China for a World Tour event, bringing the initiative back to where it all began.
• Host Legacy Tour events in India and Spain, reinforcing badminton’s growth in these key regions.
• Expand efforts in North America, further strengthening grassroots and high-performance pathways.
